John & Angeline are one of the better dealers in the scene and my watch collecting passion was encouraged by their collection too. I haven’t been back in his store for a while now but I can vouch the couple had been very professional & corteous in all my past dealings since I knew them from their old shop @ GE Building.
In any conflict resolutions, a party would normally approach privately first before going public? What’s the endgame of his feedback ? The aggressor’s attempt to name & shame publicly obviously backfired on him BIG time judging from the “public trial” ? And why bother to mention a $55k (dropping names) watch he was after ?

(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) Tom Chng lacks credibility for where it is
I have used JWwatch as my service provider.
Patronised for about 7-8 times. Only find that its somewhat pricey.
No issue of sorts.
I think tom chng thoroughly lacks credibility and is trying to oust his way by
with a non recognised ‘singapore watch club’.
the only recognised watch club is Singapore Rolex Watch Owners Club
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) - Only good experiences at JW!
Just want to add my support for JW, having been a customer for over 10 years and counting. A few observations:
1. GST is not "questionable" and "unusual", it is mandatory by law for any shop selling goods or providing a service. I always appreciate JW's transparency in pricing. The price tag and website are very clear - Original Retail Price, Price Now, and Price with GST. I fail to see how one cannot comprehend such a simple concept.
2. JW is open 2 days a week, the days and times are very clearly stated on the website. Therefore it couldn't be the case that the day he visited was "the only day" the store was open.
3. As it is open only two days a week, there is bound to be a few people in the store. If you have any questions just patiently wait and someone will attend to you, it's not that difficult. There are plenty of nice watches you can browse through while you wait.
What I appreciate about JW is that whether you are buying a $300 watch, a $3,000 watch, or a $30,000 watch, you always get good service and friendly advice. It appears that Tom Chng expects a red carpet opened for him every time he buys a watch, just because he's founder of some club? I think the problem is with his attitude, not JW's service as the thousands of customers will attest to. Looking forward to visiting the new store once it's open!
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) Bad feedback on JW?
Over the many many years I have visited JW, John and Angeline has always tried their upmost to support and answer my queries even if I do not buy anything. The shop is always crowded and yes they are short handed but patience is a virtue. I think the comments of rude behavior is unfair for the 75 year old lady as she probably don't really work there.
My latest experience with John/ JWWATCH was when I asked for help with my friend's Omega speedmaster Chronograph broad arrow. I recall having several communications with him and he even offered for me to go down to his shop on a day when it was supposed to be closed to assist me with the watch as it was quite urgent due to sea water seepage. I was very impressed with his willingness to help and also to source for spare parts. As a watch enthusiast and also a deep passion in watch repair and servicing, I could sense his passion in watch making and he went all out to help and support me in getting my watch back to tip top condition. Thank you for that.
John and Angeline, you have my support all the way in this matter and I look forward to visiting you in your new shop soon.
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) feedback on 24th jan 2019 incident
JW Horological Gallery is my go to place for these reasons;
1.Sheer professionalism. Very knowledgeable and capable technically, while being keenly customer focused
2.Displaying warmth & being humble, while dispensing knowledge and advice, when i sought for an input
3.Attentive and always good on their word
4.Always being Fair(Selling watch pieces, taking-in watch pieces & repairservice)
5.Would continue being JW's customer after 15 years, and counting
6.Keenly await your reopening, with your shifting in February 2019
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) - May have been miscommunication
I am quite surprised of the post as I have been going to JW Watch for all my servicing plus friendly advices and purchases. At all times, John and his staff were always courteous and ready to help. Every time at JW Watch was a positive experience for me. Will continue to visit John even after his shift to the new location.
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) Bad experience?
Dear John,
I am sorry JW has to go through all this nonsense about bad service. I have been with you since Amara days to GE building to International plaza. Shared so many joyous firsts with JW including my first Fifty Fathoms, wife’s first Hermes, colleague’s first Daytona, my father’s restoration of his first Rolex, and countless watch straps, polishing and repairs. Even when I was only browsing with no intention to buy anything, I have always been treated courteously and respectfully by all of your family and staff. Your shop is probably one of the last establishment, that clients like myself have always felt treated like family.
Looking forward to visiting your new shop at Pickering!
Wishing you a joyous Lunar New Year!
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) Nothing but the best.
I've had the pleasure of buying from JW for about 10 years.
Regardless of the price tier, I am always treated with respect and professionalism from everyone in the shop.
I've never seen anyone being treated otherwise, be it for servicing, watch purchase or authentication.
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) Professional Service
I have bought from and sold watches to JWW. John would always serve me.
He is very professional, courteous and I trust his opinion.
The GST issue is exaggerated. If we pay GST buying groceries in the supermarket, I can’t see why we make an issue over this when buying a luxury watch.
(TOM CHNG - BAD EXPERIENCE) 3rd party view for sgwatchclub's complaint
I have been to JW for watch sevicing few yrs back, as regarding this misunderstanding, i felt that JW is right, i do chat with the old lady when i visited the shop, she is friendly and she only speak mandrian, and JW is a gentleman too although i did not hv a chance to speak to him, but from the way he speak to others and his gusture. frankly speaking if such matter arised , for a normal person and the correct approach to clear the doubt is to clearify with the inchrage or the owner of the shop on the spot , to what i can see, this guy's motive for posting such comment online to tell the public is to damage others reputation.
